Sustainability

IPCA assumes sustainability as a key factor in the institution’s strategy and daily practice, with a commitment to managing its impacts, not only in terms of infrastructure and physical spaces, but also by involving all members of the academic community and integrating sustainable development concerns across the board.

At IPCA we recognise our institutional responsibility to promote sustainability in a holistic and integrated way, in line with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

Environmental, economic and social sustainability are clearly recognised in the 2022-2025 Strategic Plan, particularly in terms of the strategic axes and objectives. Aware of the role it plays in society and its impact on future generations, IPCA’s Strategic Plan is an essential foundation for its commitment to achieving the SDGs, integrating sustainability into all of its main tasks: education, research, campus and community relations.

A programme is being developed to map courses and their content according to their contribution to the SDGs. With this knowledge, it will be possible to adapt education to ensure that it meets current and future challenges and encourages students to contribute to solving real problems and the common good.

Research activities

Science technology concept. Laboratory. Examination. Research.

Research at IPCA is designed to respond to major global challenges in areas such as health, wellbeing and renewable energy. Research projects aim to generate new knowledge and practices that will advance sustainable development, ensuring that the valuable knowledge generated is disseminated to the public who need it, thus achieving the social relevance of research.

Responsible Campus

Natural resources must be used, conserved and managed by society in a balanced and sustainable way over time. We must therefore take steps on a daily basis to reduce the negative impact of our activities on air, water and soil, thereby helping to conserve biodiversity and defend the quality of the environment.

IPCA is committed to leading by example, acting and influencing its academic community, partners, suppliers, the external community and other stakeholders by adopting measures and best practice to maintain and improve the quality of the environment and the sustainable management of natural resources to ensure sustainable development.

The work carried out in recent years for the Responsible Campus has been aimed at adopting sustainable practices to mitigate negative impacts on the environment and raising awareness among the academic community to change their behaviour.

Cooperation/partnerships

The United Nations 2030 Agenda recognises that the SDGs can only be achieved through partnerships and global cooperation. IPCA establishes and intensifies synergies through partnerships and participation in collaborative networks that contribute to sustainable development.

Co-operation agreements with other educational institutions and national and foreign organisations help to improve teaching and research and strengthen partnerships that boost sustainable development. It is with these premises in mind that IPCA has encouraged networking and working in partnership with local and national organisations.
