What if you had €10,000 to invest in projects relevant to the academic community? How would you use it? This is the theme of another edition of IPCA’s Participatory Budget, which will prepare you to develop your sense of social responsibility, problem solving and critical thinking.
Participate as a way of strengthening the spirit of the academic community, while reinforcing equity, inclusion, transparency and student participation in the governance of IPCA.
The winning proposal is to create a digital library for IPCA students, providing easy access to a wide range of books and handbooks needed and recommended throughout their academic careers, overcoming the time and physical difficulties of accessing traditional libraries to provide access to a digital collection, particularly for distance learning students.
This project will receive a grant of 10,000 euros from the IPCA budget for its implementation and will have a maximum duration of 12 months.
Both applications were prepared by distance learning students of Public Management, with the winning proposal written by Angelina Cerqueira, Fátima Silva, Liliana Joaquim and Sílvia Maia.
It should be remembered that the Participatory Budget allocates a sum of money each year to fund academic projects that the students choose as priorities, thus giving members of the IPCA student community an active voice in the management of part of the institution’s budget.
Students Letícia Martins, Beatriz Martins, Eduarda Gomes, Mário Correia, Joana Fernandes, Patrícia Marques, Edineida Cabral, Filipa Martins, Raquel Lopes and Sara Gomes were the winners of the project “Dining room and more microwaves”.
The proposal presented reflects the “improvement of the space available for meals brought by students”, according to the winners. The project consisted of reorganising the space with new tables, chairs and several microwaves, which will allow a greater number of students to use the space, creating a more pleasant and convivial atmosphere. /span>.
The Community Orchard project is the brainchild of Maria da Luz Sangreman, an IPCA student who will graduate in 2021. “It’s an idea I’ve had for a long time and I think it’s an interesting and healthy alternative for snacks for everyone at the Academy, students, teachers and staff, who will have fresh fruit at their disposal,” explains the winner.
Several fruit trees have already been planted and are coming to life every day.
The Locker Project was the winner for 2022.2. A vision of students Beatriz Couto, Natália Ribeiro, Raquel Rocha, Sara Duarte, Vasco Ferreira, Vítor Costa, Rui Mesquita and Nuno Marques.
With this project, the students proposed the acquisition of lockers that would allow the charging of different types of devices, making it possible for their users to feel comfortable. We want to meet one of the most important needs of the IPCA academic community,” say the students, “which is the safety of the users.
