The novelties of Queima do Galo ’23 were finally revealed

The Academic Association of the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (AAIPCA) unveiled the Official Poster for the 2023 "Queima do Galo" festival, thus concluding the celebrations of National Student Day at IPCA.

Tatiana Alves, former leader of AAIPCA, Mariana Salazar and José Oliveira from TMIPCA, Sofia Pereira from TFIPCA and André Costa from TAIPCA starred in the initial musical moment.

While during the IPCA TV broadcast, which aired on IPCA’s Facebook page, Mariana hinted at what was to come, it was at the official presentation, which took place in the Noble Hall of the Barcelos City Hall, where the surprises were revealed.

The event promises to liven up the Barcelos nights and will take place from April 19th to 22nd in the Ribeirinha area, with the support of IPCA and the City Council.

The celebrations will begin on April 16th, at 2:30pm, at the Barcelos Municipal Pavilion, with the Graduation Mass celebrated by the Archbishop of Braga, who will be attending this ceremony for the first time. At 11pm, the Monumental Serenade will take place near the Matriz Church. As for the lineup, on April 19th, Rosinha and Saúl, along with DJ Pette, will take the stage with Portuguese popular music. On April 20th, it will be the turn of Kalhambeke, TAIPCA, TFIPCA, TMIPCA and Viktor Soul to entertain the night. Kappa Jotta, X-Tense, and Fábio Gonçalves will perform on April 21st. The academic week ends on April 22nd with the performance of this year’s big surprise: T-Rex, along with Quim Barreiros, Echosound and Tiago Cruz, who will bring energy to the land of the rooster.

Mariana Lima, president of AAIPCA, stated that the lineup was designed “to respond to the requests of the people of Barcelos. We sought to innovate by bringing in new artists, and we will have one of the highlights with the arrival of T-Rex, an artist who will be performing in Barcelos for the first time,” she highlighted.

The vice-president of IPCA, Paula Tavares, considered these activities “essential for the good integration of these students. More than a celebration, this is a moment of conviviality. Live intensely, knowing that you are enjoying some of the best moments of your lives,” she mentioned.

Representing the municipality was the Councilor for Education, Mariana Carvalho, for whom this week values the city’s dynamics. “The municipality will always be very cooperative. We want to provide all the support, and we are sure that this joy is well received by the entire population of Barcelos,” she said.

The program also includes the academic parade on April 22, consisting of 17 floats that will parade through the city streets.

This year, tickets can be purchased at physical ticket offices and also online through EasyTicket. The first pre-sale phase opens next Monday and ends on April 1, with general passes for members costing 28 euros and non-member student passes costing 32 euros. The general public can purchase daily tickets at the box office on the same day.
